BFA Fairfax Senior Owen Stygles was a finalist for Senator Bernie Sanders' State of the Union essay contest. Owen wrote about supporting regulations for digital media content geared toward children.

We had three fantastic concerts last week. We are incredibly proud of our students, and their preparation and hard work were evident. A big thank you to our staff for helping make these concerts a success and a big round of applause to Ms. Belfield for facilitating these outstanding events. Finally, we are grateful to all our families for their ongoing support of the arts in our school.
"Last week, several Fairfax students and families hosted 6 students and their teacher from Fenelon High School in La Rochelle, France. During the week, students visited Montpelier and met with the Secretary of State, visited a sugar house and a dairy farm, toured Ben and Jerry's, and participated in Coffee House on Friday night. They also attended classes with their exchange partners, went skiing at Smuggs, and spent free time with their host families, exploring Vermont and immersing themselves in our language, culture, and way of life. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Fairfax, and I loved watching our students interact with them, exchanging language and culture and deepening their understanding of each other. Exchanges like this promote a better understanding of the world around us, a deeper appreciation of other cultures, and fosters life-long relationships with peers around the world. We look forward to traveling to La Rochelle next week and spending time with our partners in France. Our students will have the opportunity to visit historic sites and tourist destinations in and around La Rochelle, attend classes with their peers at a French high school, and immerse themselves in family life. I am thankful to our community for supporting this exchange; I know it will be life-changing for the participants."

This morning the Lynch/Clokey team led us in an inspiring All School Meeting to honor Earth Day. The students showcased their creativity and commitment to protecting our planet by singing a song about environmental conservation, and students shared ways we all can protect the Earth.

Joe Emery and Alana Torraca brought 19 students- including six exchange students from France and their teacher- to Montpelier for the day on April 1 (no joke!). In Montpelier, students attended a Legislative session, spoke with elected officials, and had the opportunity to explore the State House. Students also visited the Secretary of State's office and discussed multiple topics, including election security, finding common ground between political parties, and designing a new "I voted" sticker.
One student from France commented that the State House was "like a palace." A BFA student noted that it was nice to talk to elected officials. He said that while we should respect them, it is nice to know "they are people just like us."
Congratulations to the new members of the National Honor Society! Further Congratulations to the Senior members who received their stoles to wear at graduation.
We are incredibly proud of the cast and crew, whose show "Knock Knock" won at the Regional District One Act Festival and will be moving on to the State Festival on April 11-12.

The Fairfax School Budget Revote (FY26) will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Fairfax Town Offices. Polls will be open 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Residents are encouraged to join the Board and BFA administration on Wednesday, April 2nd in the Elementary Gym (6 PM) for an informational meeting and school budget presentation ahead of the revote. This morning, Ms. Chaplin and Mr. Karp’s classes led us in a fantastic All School Morning meeting that celebrated International Women’s Day. Our students shared about important and influential women who have made significant impacts on the world.
Today our Grade 3/4 Drama Club performed Toy Store for a packed house of students, families, and staff. The cast did an amazing job and we are incredibly proud of all of them. A big thank you to Mrs. Kalbfleisch, Mrs. Bates, and Mrs. Garrett for all their work making this play happen for our students!
This morning the Grade 1 Team participated in the 2nd Annual Penguin Olympics to culminate their learning and hard work during the penguin unit. It was a ton of fun!

BFA Fairfax Kindergarten Registration 2025-26
February 19 - March 21, 2025
Your child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2025 to attend Kindergarten in the fall of 2025. Parents can request enrollment packets by contacting Rhonda Masse at 802-849-0723, or by emailing rmasse@fwsu.org. If your child is currently enrolled in the PreK program at BFA, you do not need to request a packet. You will receive several forms to update information. Those documents will be sent home with your child at the beginning of the registration period.
Enrollment packets should be completed and returned by March 21, 2025. For new enrollments - A copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency must be included with your completed enrollment packet. Students cannot be enrolled until all of the required documents are on file with the school.
All other Kindergarten information (Handbooks, Screening Dates, Information Night) will be shared at a later date. Thank you!
All FWSU schools will be on a two hour delay Monday February 17. This will allow our road crews to assess road conditions and catch up. We will advise if conditions change by 7:30 tomorrow morning.
Mrs. Villeneuve's Public Speaking class participated in the Rotary Club's speech contest.
This year's speech topic was "How to Increase respect, tolerance & understanding of one another."
