With fall upon us, students and teachers are taking advantage of the many places to explore in Vermont during this beautiful season.
Fourth graders ventured to Saint Albans Bay this week to learn more about Lake Champlain through the Lake Lessons program. Georgia students have been participating in this program for the past few years.
Seventh graders traveled to Hackett’s Orchard in South Hero to pick apples before their hike at Niquette Bay State Park. Upon returning from their trip, students baked apple pies to learn about energy transfer in systems. Plus, they had a chance to try their delicious pies!
Sixth-grade students will be heading to the Ethan Allen Homestead next week as a kick-off to their year-long unit focused on early Vermont. Students will be learning about the Abenaki and the role Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys played in Vermont’s history.
Kindergarteners will be exploring the life cycles of pumpkins on their trip to Sam Mazza’s Farmstand. Each student will be venturing out to the pumpkin patch to pick their own pumpkin to take home with them. Second graders will also be traveling to Sam Mazza’s to learn about the interdependence of plants and animals while exploring the pumpkin patch.
Finally, our first graders will be going to the Ballard Family farm here in Georgia. During their trip they will be exploring life cycles while learning about how pumpkins go from seed to plant to pumpkin!
